Gum Disease Treatment in Idle

All of us have bleeding gums while brushing our teeth atleast once in our lifetime.

Maybe you’ve also noticed persistent bad breath throughout the day or that your gums feel a little sore. These are just a few warning signs of gum disease, a common but serious condition that needs your care now. Gum disease treatment in Idle is aimed at restoring gum health, protecting your teeth, and bringing back a healthy smile—and all this with no pain!

What is gum disease?

Gum disease, also known as periodontal disease, is a gum infection caused by plaque—a sticky layer of bacteria that builds up on your teeth. It can worsen due to factors like diabetes, a lack of vitamin C, hormonal imbalances, and more.

Gum disease develops in two main stages:

  • Gingivitis: This early stage shows up as red, swollen gums that might bleed when you brush or floss. The good news? It’s reversible with quick, easy treatment and excellent oral care.
  • Periodontitis: At this advanced stage, the infection spreads to deeper structures, including the bone supporting your teeth. This can lead to receding gums, gum pockets, loose teeth, and, if untreated, tooth loss. Prompt care with gum disease treatment can help stop the damage.

Do you have gum disease?

You may need gum disease treatment if you have one or a combination of these symptoms. Gum disease is a silent disease in the early stages. Thus, it’s important to know the signs:

Who can get gum disease?

Gum disease can happen for various reasons. Let’s break it down:

  • Poor oral hygiene: If brushing and flossing aren’t part of your routine, plaque builds up over time. When it hardens into tartar, it causes inflammation in your gums.
  • Tobacco use: Smoking or chewing tobacco significantly raises the risk of gum issues.
  • Genetic predisposition: Sometimes, it’s in your genes—some people are naturally more prone to gum disease.
  • Health conditions: Conditions like diabetes can increase your chances of developing gum problems.

Why treat gum disease early?

Gum disease doesn’t just affect your mouth; it’s linked to several health conditions, including heart disease, diabetes, and pregnancy complications. Early treatment can prevent any health emergencies and save you from losing a tooth, or expensive and invasive procedures later on.

Frequently asked questions

Teeth cleanings and proper oral hygiene can reverse gingivitis—the early stage of gum disease. Periodontitis is also curable if treated effectively and on time with the proper procedures.

We use gentle techniques and local anaesthesia to ensure that patients are as comfortable as possible during treatment. Most patients report that the procedures are more comfortable than they expected.

The time it takes to recover depends on the severity of your condition. Early treatments, such as scaling, can be completed in a single visit, whereas more advanced cases may necessitate several sessions.

I hadn't been to the dentist in a very long time. I came to Taylored Dental after hearing positive experiences from a family member who has been with them for some time.
I needed quite a lot of work doing which I was apprehensive about but Kat was amazing. She was so patient and explained everything to me as she was doing it. I felt completely at ease and wondered why I hadn't visited sooner!
At my final appointment from my treatment plan, they presented me with some gorgeous flowers which was such a lovely touch.
Dare I say, I'm looking forward to my check up in 6 months!
Thank you Taylored Dental 🤍

This review is a little delayed (February 2021)as I did not realise I could leave it via Google! ( I’m not on FB) I have been with TDC for years now since they took over from my previous dentist. Last year I decided to have whitening and composite veneers on my two front teeth. I cannot say enough about how great they are! Haider was brilliant and my teeth look so natural lots of people have not even noticed! Of course I have also had ‘usual’ treatments too including root canal work. All the staff and of course Haider were so friendly and kind- no pain and carried out very professionally. I cannot recommend this practice highly enough. 😊
