Tooth Grinding Treatment in Keighley

Do you wake up with unexplained headaches or jaw pain?

Perhaps you’ve noticed that your teeth feel sensitive in the morning or your partner may have mentioned that you grind your teeth at night.

Tooth grinding, or bruxism, is a common yet often overlooked condition that can have serious implications on your oral health. Tooth grinding treatment in Keighley can help you resolve this issue conservatively and comfortably.

What is tooth grinding treatment?

Tooth Grinding Treatment is aimed at treating the issues of grinding teeth, otherwise called bruxism, through various methods like custom-made mouth guards or splints.

What is tooth grinding?

Bruxism or teeth grinding refers to the involuntary clenching or grinding of teeth, often during sleep or during the day. While it might seem harmless, the repeated force of grinding can lead to:

  • Enamel wear and tear: Over time, tooth enamel wears away, exposing the sensitive inner layers of your teeth.

Personalised tooth grinding treatments

If you recognise any symptoms, it’s important to get a tailored treatment plan from your dentist. Here are some of the options we provide:

Custom-made night guards

A bespoke night guard is one of the best ways to combat bruxism. Exclusively designed to fit snugly over your teeth, these plastic trays or mouthguards act as a barrier to prevent grinding and protect your enamel. They are made using 3D digital scans of your teeth and gums and are precise, soft and easy to use. Unlike over-the-counter options, custom-made guards are more comfortable and fit better.

Teeth grinding and clenching are often linked to stress or anxiety. Our team can advise you on relaxation techniques or, where necessary, recommend counselling services to help you manage stress, which can significantly reduce tooth grinding. Studies say that simple changes, such as avoiding caffeine and alcohol before bed, can help reduce the intensity of tooth grinding.

If your bruxism is caused by misaligned teeth, an ill-fitting dental prosthesis or due to bite changes with age, we make slight adjustments to ensure a balanced bite. This reduces the strain on your jaw and minimises grinding.

  • Cracked or chipped teeth: Persistent grinding can damage the structural integrity of your teeth.
  • Jaw pain: Bruxism can strain your jaw muscles, leading to temporomandibular joint (TMJ) issues.
  • Headaches: Many people with bruxism experience tension headaches, especially in the morning.
While the best treatments for teeth grinding are conservative, like stress management and lifestyle changes, in advanced cases, they require dental corrections or medications like muscle relaxants. It’s best to consult a dentist to understand the most suitable treatment plan based on your needs.

I needed some extractions and I needed dentures, Taylored dentists, took me along the procedure from the start to completion. Tony removed my old teeth and Mathew made the dentures and moulded and shaped them to fit perfectly. Anyone, thinking of getting any work done, couldn't, ask for better help and reassurance than Taylored dentists in Keighley. Totally painless and satisfaction guaranteed.

I can’t rate Taylored Dental Care highly enough. I decided to join the new practice in Keighley after leaving a private practice in Leeds. Fed up of travelling a long distance to a city centre dentist with no parking.
So firstly the new practice is conveniently located with parking.
But wait until you enter! You will be welcomed by a very friendly and professional team in very smart plush modern environment like a 5 star hotel 🌟
Charlotte looked after me beautifully and assisted me in signing up for my new private dental plan. Then I was seen and examined by dentist Roy who could not have been nicer. Roy was friendly and explained all the new patient dental examination procedures to me.
I have never experienced such amazing kind and informative patient care in either a dentist or a hospital before.
I will be recommending Taylored Dental Care in Keighley to all of my friends.

I had a tooth extracted with Dr Graham recently. The procedure itself was smooth and the staff were professional and friendly. However I did experience an electric shock kinda feeling which was due to the needle hitting a nerve. This did cause some discomfort but Dr Graham was very attentive and provided helpful advice. Overall I appreciate the level of care delivered throughout.

Hopefully it’ll be back to normal soon, thank you

I have recently only joined Taylored Dental Care after being unhappy with my previous dentist and it was the best move I have made. Unfortunately I needed a tooth removing and I was extremely nervous as I do not do very well with anything surgical. I really didn't need to worry as Graham and his team did a fantastic job from start to finish, I didn't feel a thing, even the needle didn't bother me which was a first. The friendliness of the staff at this practice is fantastic and very welcome after previous encounters with other dentists that I have had. If you are thinking of trying them out or changing to Taylored Dental then my advice would be to do it at your earliest opportunity. I should have done it months ago!!
