Dental Bridges in Keighley

They say a chain is only as strong as its weakest link.

The same can be said for your smile. Missing teeth can affect your smile, confidence and oral health. Are you missing a tooth or two? Has the dentist advised a tooth extraction, making you wonder how to replace the tooth? Dental bridges in Keighley are a trusted and effective solution to restore your smile and keep it strong.

What are dental bridges?

Dental bridges literally ‘bridge’ the space left by missing tooth/teeth. It is a custom-made, conjoined row of 3 or more dental crowns, in which the crowns replacing the missing spaces are called the ‘pontics’ and the supporting dental crowns placed on healthy natural teeth are called the ‘retainers.’ They restore both the functionality and aesthetics of your smile, ensuring you can chew, speak, and smile confidently.

The types of dental bridges

Not all dental bridges are the same. Dental bridges in Keighley offer a variety of options to suit your unique needs. Here are the dental bridge types:

The benefits of dental bridges

A dental bridge offers more than just a complete smile:

Restores function

Dental bridges make it easier to eat and speak, allowing you to enjoy meals and a diverse range of foods.

When a tooth is missing, neighbouring teeth may drift into the gap. This can disrupt the normal biting patterns and jaw movements. A dental bridge maintains the proper alignment by filling all missing spaces in the mouth.

A complete, natural-looking smile can significantly improve your self-esteem.

Dental bridges distribute bite force evenly, reducing strain on surrounding teeth and jaw joints.

  • Traditional bridges: These are the most common type, consisting of a dummy tooth or the pontic, anchored by crowns on the adjacent natural teeth.
  • Cantilever bridges: If you only have one adjacent tooth to support the bridge, a cantilever bridge can fill the gap effectively. It has a pontic anchored to a dental crown only at one end. They are usually used as dental bridges on front teeth.
  • Maryland bonded bridges: A more conservative option, Maryland bridges use a framework bonded to the back of adjacent supporting teeth, avoiding the need for dental crowns. These are ideal dental bridges for front teeth.
  • Implant-supported bridges: These do not involve natural teeth but are supported by two or more dental implants to replace the missing teeth.

Who can get a dental bridge?

Dental bridges are ideal if you have the following conditions:

  •  Have one or more missing teeth but healthy teeth or implants on either side of the gap.
  • Want a durable solution that restores chewing and speaking functionality?
  • Are you looking for a cost-effective alternative to dental implants for replacing multiple teeth?

Frequently asked questions

The process of getting a dental bridge typically takes two to three appointments. This includes the initial consultation, preparation of the teeth, making the moulds, and placing the temporary bridge. Once the permanent bridge is ready, it will be cemented into place during a follow-up visit.

The cost of a dental bridge can vary widely depending on factors such as the type of bridge, materials used, and the complexity of the case. Dental insurance may cover a full or a part of the cost; we also offer flexible payment options for dental bridges.

If your dental bridge feels loose, it’s important to contact us as soon as possible. In the meantime, avoid touching or trying to adjust the bridge yourself. Avoid chewing on that side of the mouth. A loose bridge can lead to further complications if not addressed promptly.

I needed some extractions and I needed dentures, Taylored dentists, took me along the procedure from the start to completion. Tony removed my old teeth and Mathew made the dentures and moulded and shaped them to fit perfectly. Anyone, thinking of getting any work done, couldn't, ask for better help and reassurance than Taylored dentists in Keighley. Totally painless and satisfaction guaranteed.

I can’t rate Taylored Dental Care highly enough. I decided to join the new practice in Keighley after leaving a private practice in Leeds. Fed up of travelling a long distance to a city centre dentist with no parking.
So firstly the new practice is conveniently located with parking.
But wait until you enter! You will be welcomed by a very friendly and professional team in very smart plush modern environment like a 5 star hotel 🌟
Charlotte looked after me beautifully and assisted me in signing up for my new private dental plan. Then I was seen and examined by dentist Roy who could not have been nicer. Roy was friendly and explained all the new patient dental examination procedures to me.
I have never experienced such amazing kind and informative patient care in either a dentist or a hospital before.
I will be recommending Taylored Dental Care in Keighley to all of my friends.

I had a tooth extracted with Dr Graham recently. The procedure itself was smooth and the staff were professional and friendly. However I did experience an electric shock kinda feeling which was due to the needle hitting a nerve. This did cause some discomfort but Dr Graham was very attentive and provided helpful advice. Overall I appreciate the level of care delivered throughout.

Hopefully it’ll be back to normal soon, thank you

I have recently only joined Taylored Dental Care after being unhappy with my previous dentist and it was the best move I have made. Unfortunately I needed a tooth removing and I was extremely nervous as I do not do very well with anything surgical. I really didn't need to worry as Graham and his team did a fantastic job from start to finish, I didn't feel a thing, even the needle didn't bother me which was a first. The friendliness of the staff at this practice is fantastic and very welcome after previous encounters with other dentists that I have had. If you are thinking of trying them out or changing to Taylored Dental then my advice would be to do it at your earliest opportunity. I should have done it months ago!!
